1967 Shelby GT500, Shelby number 904. The car is listed on page 718 of the Shelby Registry. Its production date is 3/8/1967. As an early production car it has inboard headlights and functional rear brake ducts. It is an original Brittany Blue car one of 301, which is one of the most sought after colors. It has the optional Kelsey-Hays Magstar wheels, and C-6 automatic transmission.
The car underwent an extensive, 2 and a half year restoration. The car was restored to be 100% stock appearing. Literally every nut and bolt was either restored or replaced with NOS or original ford parts. The engine is the correct date coded 428 "PI" and was rebuilt with upgraded valve seals and roller rockers. The heads were ported and polished and a mild street cam was added. The engine runs very strong but is fully stock appearing on the outside with the exception of a lightweight aluminum "Shelby American" high efficiency water pump. The C-6 transmission is the heavy-duty "R" servo taken from a 1968 cobra jet engine. Again it has been fully rebuilt to handle the extra power if this engine. The rear is a 3.90:1 ratio Detroit locker. The correct BJ-BK Holley carburetor were rebuilt and correctly jetted for this motor.
The car is maintained and was correctly set up by Cobra Automotive of Wallingford, CT., which is one of the foremost Shelby shops in the country. The car features all new suspension components, springs, and period correct Koni shocks. It sports NOS Kelsey-Hayes disc brakes. This car runs strong and handles like Carrol Shelby intended!
The body and paint are flawless! It has fewer than 500 miles since the restoration. The undercarriage is detailed in the correct Ditzler red oxide primer with overspray. The clear coat Brittany blue paint and Wimbledon white stripes are in perfect condition. The body and paint on this car get compliments whenever it is shown.
The interior has been fully restored. It features the correct, flawless, brushed aluminum panels. All the gauges and lights work properly. It has the correct Stewart-Warner oil pressure and amp gauges in the under dash pod. This car is an investment grade vehicle, that runs and drives like new. It won 1st place in class at the 2004 New England region SAAC show. It consistently places in the top three whenever it is shown.
