Museum Quality Restored Factory Mach 1 with the rare Super Jet Cobra Motor
- Ground up rotisserie restoration. Factory R code 428 Super Cobra Jet (SCJ) engine w/ Drag Pack, W code 4.30 axle ratio, 4 speed close ratio top loader transmission, Power steering, Power disc brakes, Rare Fold down rear seat option, AM/8-track radio. This is a one of one car as optioned.
- Marti deluxe report verifies it being a factory SCJ Mach 1. Correct 428 Super Cobra Jet engine rebuilt to stock with date code correct block showing Nov. 1968. correct date coded external components: heads, water pump, etc. Balanced SCJ (1UA) crankshaft, LeMans rods, SCJ external "hatchet" balancer, SCJ flywheel and SCJ harmonic balancer. Correct complete smog system installed (non-functioning). Correct OEM distributor, OEM oil cooler and plumbing, OEM intake and exhaust manifolds. All ignition components, wiring, tags, hoses, etc. are original OEM or correct reproduction. It has a reproduction Auto-lite “Red Cap” battery w/ modern internals. Functional and correct “shaker” hood scoop assembly. Correct close ratio (RUG-AE1) top loader transmission dated & correctly detailed. Modified Hurst shifter box from David Kee, Top loader which retains original Ford shifter lever and knob. Correct OEM Ford shifter box & linkage comes with car. All new clutch & components including clutch fork boot. Correct OEM speedometer cable and gear reducer for 4.30 rear end. Rear end is original (early non-N casting) W-code (4.30 gears) with 9” Nodular pumpkin and 31 spline axles. New Traction-Loc unit installed. Rear end is fully detailed with original reproduced markings. Comes with a Marti-report showing this car being one of the rare factory Super Cobra Jet cars built that year. Restoration was completed in June 2009. Car was completely dismantled and rotisserie mounted. Body was media blasted and metal neutralized. It has original date code correct glass, OEM bumpers, door handles, and misc. interior and exterior chrome was all beautifully re-chromed.
Interior: Original restored rim-blow steering wheel, Original carpet, rear upholstery, and deluxe door panels. Front seats are older recover. Original Ford tooling dash pad. Re-chromed dash panels. Original Rimblow steering wheel, beautifully restored. OEM console. OEM tach. OEM 8-track radio. OEM clock. Restored seat belts and shoulder belts. Fold-down rear seat with fully re-chromed trim.
Motor was re-built and engine compartment detailed to show condition. The engine bay, inner fenders, etc. were all repainted correct semi-flat black.
Door trim tag, case of 8 tracks in the trunk, showing flip down rear seat. Bottom is well restored to very original looking. It has new floor pans, trunk drops, driver’s side rocker panel, and lower quarter panels were welded in (butt welds, not lapped) and sprayed with epoxy primer. Under-body color matched to original slop red oxide (drips included!). Also the proper undercarriage over-spray detail was performed.
